Quick PSA before we dig in: THIS IS A METAPHOR. I do not recommend that beginners to tarot or anyone without experience in mediumship use tarot cards to contact the dead or to deal with literal spirit hauntings. This spread is not designed to do that, and I do not teach mediumship or spirit cleansing. This spread is for constructive shadow work, not thrill seeking. Be sensible and be safe. If you already know how to adapt tarot for spirit work, rock on.
1. What Follows me?
2. How to leave it behind.
3. What troubles me?
4. How to resolve it?
5. What keeps me up at night?
6. How to rest easier.
7. What frightens me?
8. How to face it.
NOTES & VARIATIONS:
If you know already have a sense of what haunts you or keeps you up at night, use the "what" cards to ask what you need to know about these things. If you’re struggling with unfocussed malaise use the "what" cards to describe or reveal the deeper nature of the problem.
Sometimes we want to feel haunted. Sometimes we get trapped in memories or what follows us and keeps us awake is beloved and sorely missed. If your haunting or anxiety is tied up in sweetness or nostalgia, use your "how" cards to ask how best to carry what follows you, and how best to ease what troubles you without banishing the good of it.
Therapy is great. Tarot is not a substitute for mental healthcare. You can do both if you like and are able. There's no shame in needing or desiring outside help.
This spread may be painful. It may not be fun. It should be useful. Do pace yourself. Take it in chunks as needed and pair it with journaling to get the best out of it.
I aim first and foremost to helping people learn and use tarot for themselves. Everything I post is free to use at home or share with friends for personal, educational, non-commercial ends. That said, I recognize that some people will use my tarot spreads with paying clients, and I couldn't stop them even if I wanted to. (It's NBD though.)
If you use my original spreads for paid client work, please make a donation--whatever is fair and proportionate to your use--to support the site and help me keep releasing free tarot spreads for all my readers. If you share my work on your website, blog, or social media pages, give credit and link back (or tag @interrobangtarot on Instagram) so others can find these resources. Thanks so much! Sharing is wonderful, and I do appreciate your support!
